Psoriasis, Cold Sores Top List Of Stigmatized Skin Conditions, Survey Indicates.

HealthDay (10/10, Salamon) reported that a survey shows that “psoriasis and cold sores top the list of stigmatized skin conditions,” although “experts say much of the ill will directed at sufferers is misguided.” After “surveying 56 people,” investigators “found that nearly 61 percent wrongly thought psoriasis...looked contagious, and about nine in 10 said they would pity a person who had it.” Approximately “four in 10 said herpes simplex...is the most bothersome skin condition.” The findings were published the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology.


Brodalumab Achieved 100% Reduction In Plaque Psoriasis Symptoms In Twice As Many Patients As Ustekinumab, Study Indicated.

Medscape (10/3, Swift) reported that in a phase 3 study, “the experimental monoclonal antibody brodalumab, an interleukin 17 (IL-17) receptor antagonist, achieved a 100% reduction in plaque psoriasis symptoms in twice as many patients as the commonly used antibody ustekinumab.” The findings were published in the New England Journal of Medicine.
