Experts Estimate Nearly 20% Of Americans Are Allergic To Nickel.

On its website and on the air, KABC-TV Los Angeles (3/24, Dador) reports, “Experts estimate nearly 20 percent of people in the US are allergic to nickel.” Dermatologists are seeing patients who are allergic to belt buckles or earrings and even to fitness trackers worn on the wrist.
In addition, “the American Academy of Dermatology warns that some electronic devices, including cellphones, laptops and tablets, may contain nickel.”
Dermatologist Lawrence F. Eichenfield, MD, said, “People who are real sensitive will break out from exposure to even stainless steel because the amount of nickel it releases is enough to show a reaction or rash.”
